INSTRUCTIONS TO USE ORÍGENES AND CREATE THE REPOSITORY



How can I install ORÍGENES on my device?

The app is available to download from Google Play. You can also find it by searching for "Origenes" in the Google Play search box. It is very easy to use!


How can I use ORÍGENES?

How can I access the uploading platform?

The digital archive or repository is built from photographs and documents from various archives, administered by members of the community or organisation. Access is password-protected. (To switch language, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select your preferred language.). Go to the uploading platform.


How can I create a repository on the uploading platform?

(1) After downloading the app to your device, place the photos (and any other documents you want to link to the app) in a dedicated Google Drive folder, which will serve as a community "file" (or repository).

(2) Create a new repository on the uploading platform that links the Orígenes app with Google Drive.




(3) After choosing a name and access key (which can be used to let other people access the new repository via the Orígenes app), enter your personal email address (to confirm your account on the platform) and choose a personal password that you will use to log in. Confirm that you are not a robot (tick the reCAPTCHA box) and select "Create repository".

(4) A single community repository may have several users. To add new users, select the "Settings" option and then go to the "Add a user" section. Follow the instructions: enter the email address and specify their role (editor/moderator). Once you have confirmed you are not a robot (tick the reCAPTCHA box), select "Send invitation". 




(5) If you wish to change your password, you can do so in the "Change Password" section in "Settings". You can also change the repository access key if required.



How do I use the uploading platform?

(1) On the platform home page, enter your email address and personal password, confirm that you are not a robot (tick the reCAPTCHA box) and select "Login".

(2) To add photos, select the "Add Photo" option and, in the new screen, enter the link to the photo in your Google Drive folder. To get this link, go to the "Share" menu for a photo in Google Drive, and then click "Get shareable link". Paste this link into the box on the uploading platform's photo page.




(3) You can add people directly on the photo page by drawing a box around their face. Once you have done this, enter their name in the box underneath their photo. If there is already a record for this person, their name will automatically complete. 



(4) To add people without photos, or to edit existing people to add further details, select the "Add Person" option and, in the new screen, enter the person's name and information about them, and also the parents' names if you know them. (If you wish to provide any other information about the added person, use the "Information about person" section.)



(5) Add information about the photo and select tags which may be used to find or filter images in your repository (for example, "women", "children", etc.).

(6) Do not forget to select the "Save" option before leaving the page.

(7) To end the session, select "Log out".
